Dental Technology In Fort Worth, TX

Dental technology and procedures have made huge advances in recent years, and there are now more options than ever for accurately diagnosing your dental issues and addressing them. Getz Dental is a state-of-the-art practice equipped with CBCT (cone beam CT scan) that takes 3D and 2D Panos, digital x-rays, and an intraoral scanner. Here is what you need to learn about them.

CBCT

The cone beam CT is a high-tech x-ray machine that is used to take three-dimensional images of your mouth. This scanning technology takes 3D and 2D Panos and allows for a more detailed look at any issues that you may be experiencing with your teeth, such as decay or bone loss. It also is effective for the orthodontist to track the progress of your treatment.

Our in-office imaging system produces high-quality images in a matter of seconds. The images produced with the Cone Beam Machine are superior to a traditional two-dimensional “panoramic” image, as they provide a view that shows all teeth at the same time and the structures of the jaw in great detail. The radiation associated with the scan is very minimal. In addition to this, the images are immediately projected onto the screen in the operatory room, which allows you to see what the dentist sees while they work.

When used for treatment planning, the images are used alongside a digital impression taken with an intraoral scanner. This allows us to evaluate the precise positioning of all teeth and their roots in relation to the soft tissues of the mouth and surrounding bone. With this technology, we can determine the best position for your dental implant placement.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays are an alternative to traditional film-based X-rays and are used to help your dentist diagnose problems or diseases of the teeth and jawbones. They are captured digitally by a small sensor that is placed in your mouth, and they are then displayed on a computer for the dentist’s review. The main benefit of this type of imaging is the amount of radiation used to capture these images is much lower than that of traditional film-based images. This makes them safer for you and reduces your risk of cancer in the future. They also expose you to fewer chemicals as well, since they are completely digital and have no processing involved.

Another benefit of digital x-rays is that they allow the dentist to easily share the images with the patient. This means that patients can better understand what is going on with their oral health and what treatment may be the best option for them moving forward. The dentist can also use these images to explain treatment options to patients who are nervous about their procedure.

Intraoral Scanners

An intraoral scanner allows your dentist to take a 3-dimensional impression of your teeth without having to place a temporary restoration in your mouth. The scanner takes several images of the inside of your mouth to create a model of your teeth. This model can be used to create crowns, bridges, or other restorations that fit like a glove.

Dentists can use these scanners to quickly complete procedures like same-day crowns or veneers. They also use these models to create custom mouthguards for athletes who play sports that pose a risk of tooth injury. Several models can fit in the tray of the scanner for a complete scan of a patient’s mouth. With the use of an intraoral scanner, patients don’t have to experience uncomfortable molds or take impressions with their tongues sticking out. Digital impressions are also much more accurate compared to traditional impression materials. By eliminating human error from the process, dentists are able to deliver better-fitting restorations to patients.
